Daily skincare routine
The products you choose to apply and how you layer them are crucial factors. Go for skin care products that are sulfate, paraben-free and gentle. Layer them correctly and leave them to stay for an adequate amount of time. They will seep into the deepest layers of your skin, making it healthier from the inside.
Follow this 6-step daily skincare routine for healthy and glowing skin.
Step 1 - Use a foaming face wash
Wash your face using a foaming face wash at least twice every day, morning and night. It will remove all the dirt and oil accumulated throughout the night and the day. It will also ensure that your face is clean before applying any other makeup or skincare products.
Step 2 - Exfoliate
Exfoliation removes the accumulated dead skin and unclogs clogged pores. It is advisable to exfoliate in the morning because your skin rejuvenates itself in the night, leaving behind dead skin cells that need to be removed. Gently scrub your skin in a circular motion and upwards for up to 10 minutes, and then wash your face with warm water. This helps open the clogged pores, clear out whiteheads and blackheads, leaving your skin smooth and glowing.
Step 3 - Apply toner or astringent
The next step is to use alcohol and paraben-free toner or an astringent in case of very oily skin. Applying a toner helps remove the dirt and dead skin cells left behind on the skin after cleansing with a face wash. It also helps hydrate your skin, lighten acne marks and minimize open pores. Let it sit for 10 minutes and do its magic.
Step 4 - Use face serum
Next, use an antioxidant facial serum to hydrate your skin and improve its firmness. Facial serums containing a high concentration of certain ingredients like retinol, lactic acid, or vitamin C prevent breakouts, reduce sebum production, and improve skin texture.
Step 5 - Use a lightweight moisturizer
You must apply a lightweight moisturizer to lock those nutrients inside, soothe and soften the skin (thicker creams if you have dehydrated skin). Massage it for 5-6 minutes to improve blood circulation and release tension from facial muscles. This will make your skin look healthier and add a subtle glow to it.
Step 6 - Use night cream and eye mask
Want to shoo away those nasty dark circles under your eyes? The best way to get rid of them is to apply some night cream and an eye mask. This helps lighten the dark circles, hydrate the skin and help it absorb all the products properly overnight.
